Gen Zers surveyed by McKinsey report the least positive outlook and the highest prevalence of mental illness. This pessimism is fueled by growing global unrest, wars and disruptions, financial crises, and educational interruptions due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Feelings of “climate anxiety” are also widely reported.
Millennials and Gen Z hooked on to the social media for their interactions, relying on fake likes for their validation leaving them confused, anxious and lonely. Most of them suffer loneliness, anxiety, and depression, despite being in a relationship with real people!
The Hindu examines the ‘loneliness epidemic,’ and experts think India needs to address loneliness as it has reached alarming levels leading to depression and suicide attempts.
Friendships and relationships today are also very fragile and there are multiple reasons why men and women are not able to sustain relationships today.
Let’s explore this irony on one hand we have rising loneliness, yet on the other we have increasing number of couples breaking up after more than 2 to 3 years or even more before and after marriage. which means more number of women and men want to reach a state of “blissfully alone”
